WHY WE CHOSE KOMODO
Komodo is the premier fire suppression company in the world, distinguished by its unwavering commitment to environmental protection and the delivery of cutting-edge fire suppression products. Their philosophy of sustainability inspired us at Elemental Land Management to introduce their services to Sonoma County. Komodo’s solution is 100 times less toxic than competing products, allowing it to be used as a pre-treatment that significantly reduces the risk of wildfire devastation. Importantly, it is completely safe for families, pets, employees, and the entire ecosystem. The proprietary technology is plant-based and primarily composed of food-grade ingredients.
Fuel refers to any combustible material—such as dry brush, wood, or debris—that a fire consumes. When sprayed on these fuel sources, Komodo quickly expands upon exposure to heat, forming a carbon char that blocks the fire from accessing the cellulose it needs as fuel.
Oxygen, sourced from the air, feeds the chemical reaction that allows the fire to grow and spread. Komodo releases CO2 and NO2, which displace the oxygen, cutting off this vital fuel source.
Heat provides the energy necessary to initiate and maintain combustion. The water vapor released by Komodo helps to dissipate some of the heat, further slowing the fire’s advance.
Unlike traditional methods that typically remove only one element of the fire triangle, Komodo effectively dismantles two and a half sides. Once applied to your property, Komodo continues to function as an ember and fire shield, providing ongoing protection until heavy rainfall (three inches or more) occurs, at which point it biodegrades and washes away.

Protect Your Land, Your Home, and Your Peace of Mind
Creating defensible space is the single most important step in wildfire preparation. But combining it with a proactive fire-retardant treatment like Komodo Fire gives you a serious edge.
